The village is home to a couple of shops and cafes, tavernas and a church. A cafe for the villas sits at the gates to the villa cluster. There is an excellent taverna is between the villas and the rest of the village.
Nearby villages of Agios Mironas, Kroussonas, an interesting route to the delights of Zaros, allow you to drive there without even touching the main road. Cycling and walking locally is a natural. A trip to Profitis Elias takes you through vineyards, olive groves and the sights of fertile land all the way to the village with its proud rock sheltering or dominating it. There are climbing, hiking and other active sport adventures to be had from the activity group there.
The large and historic villages of Anogia and Axos can also be explored - going by car you can stay on small rural roads.
Centrally located near Heraklion and its airport (25/35 minute drive) or the nearest beach on the north coast. In 30-40 minutes you can be at the lake or gorge of Zaros, and in 20 minutes more on the beach at the south coast of Crete - with so much to see in between.
